Dear “Friend from distant future”,
I am also starting to think that the world’s end is finally going to happen at 2012 (today its 9thApril , 2010). At least the Mayans and the movie say so!
The movie! You may not have seen the movie or even heard of it because Ilike to believe that you belong to the distant future. Because thereare a lot of things that I need to apologize for.
The movie I talked about earlier is ‘2012’ showing world’s end as the Mayan Calendar suggests. Even though, we survived many days prophesied earlier as “the day everything will end”, this time it’s different.
The Mayans are geniuses when it comes to Mathematics and Astronomy. They existed nearly 4500 years ago and most of the things they inscribed in their book have been proved true.
Eventhough the movie ends happily, I do not think it’s going to be that way here. Because as in the movie a lot of commoners are going to die and being one myself, I am nervous.
I am not Caesar! I am not Caesar to say that I do not fear death or that I pity people who are scared of death. Death can come all of a sudden and steal you away from this happening world even without your consent. And what if still during my death, I am no one to the world? My identity, my memories, my experiences, my knowledge, my words, my dreams, my desires… and everything is going to be wiped out completely, as if I never existed.
That sort of a death is terrifying. I would never want that. I say, before you die, you must do something like what eminent personalities like Mahatma Gandhi or Mother Teresa did, so that people miss you forever and hence, you stay immortal even after death.
So,what I wanted to tell you my friend from distant future is that “we are getting ready to suicide.” Yes. Even if the Earth won’t kill us by 2012, the world has decided to die. That is why, we are never concerned (any way, not by actions) about global warming, climate change, melting polar ice, rising sea levels, environmental pollution, ozone depletion, green house effect or any such ecological crises.
Through this letter, I want to apologize to you because the place where you now live may be unbearable and inhospitable and it may be slowly killing you all. It’s all because of us. Forgive us! your ancestors, for not handing over the land we inherited from our ancestors, the way it had been given to us.
And because we have decided to die, we are killing and destroying every single thing on our way, for we are jealous. Jealous, because when our reign of tyranny is over, the world will be happier and normal and much more beautiful and we being ‘typical human beings’ hate to even think of someone becoming happier than our self.
May be you won’t know, but in the forests (which I don’t know will survive our tyranny) there used to exist handsome creatures like lions, tigers, peacocks and many others. Creatures, so stunningly beautiful and powerful, that once you see it you won’t take your eyes off it.
But men killed it one by one to make its huge population shrink into isolated nuclear families. Men killed it for its skin, flesh, bones, teeth and every other possible thing.
Same was the fate with marine animals. You won’t know but even now in this 21st century when the whole population of men claim itself to be highly developed, in many countries of the world there still exist ‘coming of age ceremonies’ of men, who kill cute little creatures like Dolphins who do not know how to fight back to mark ‘their manhood’. In these ceremonies not just one or two creatures are killed every year but thousands in number. They, the dolphins, have always helped humans. Shipwrecked sailors, people etc were taken to shore by them. And these mass killings are man’s tribute to them?
Same way, do you know why sharks and whales are killed? For their blubber, skin, oil and flesh. These are used to make cosmetics, detergents etc. I do not know. Once they discover it, how can people use more of them. Terrible!
And when we see men cutting down forests and trees we get a feeling that trees are enemies that need to be eliminated. Else, it may prove fatal. And, what about the rivers and lakes? People dump waste into these as if they are huge waste bins, supplied to them by God along with 'The Bible'.
May be because we are dying in 2012 or in near future, some of the sharks and whales and trees and rivers and some animals might get saved and you may know about them. All I’ve got to say to you is, don’t do anything to them. I shall beg of thee on my knees, “SAVE THEM!” Don’t let your world be like that of us. May your world be an example of how Earth should be and Earthlings should be.
Okay. I am not going to bore you with any more of these. It’s only that my feelings right now are far more than what I can express through these words.
